Reading Ability Dementia

Cognitive symptoms of dementia can include poor problem solving, difficulty learning new skills, and impaired decision making.

Behavior changes can include fear, insecurity, anger, and often, depression like symptoms.

Dementia is caused by various diseases and conditions that result in damaged brain cells.

Brain cells can be destroyed by brain diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, or strokes (called vascular or multi-infarct dementia), which decrease blood flow to the brain.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia.

Side Effects of Dementia Drugs

Does your loved one living with dementia mention dizziness?

Most of us would probably conclude that fainting is caused by Alzheimer's, and not a problem brought on by the side effects of a medication(s). The study below highlights the potential side effects of cholinesterase inhibitors.

Side Effects of Dementia Drugs

The scientists are not suggesting that dementia patients stop taking cholinesterase inhibitors.

However, if you are experiencing these problems you might want to discuss these issues with your personal care physician or a specialist.

One of the questions I was often asked, what stage of Alzheimer's is Dotty in? I was very familiar with the stages of Alzheimer's, but I couldn't answer that question. I just didn't know.
